Guess niggas forgot how to let the music talk
Shut the fuck up, ya’ll boys talk too much
Wonder why my heart is broke then I couldn’t say
Witnessing’ my vices pull me over had to look away
I’m knowin’ that my niggas on the same shit
Same old, same old everytime hands shaken
Conversation ‘bout conservation
Somebody save me
Take me to a whole ‘nother place, it’s just
I been on some other shit since just the other day
Had to pull myself together from that phone call with Ray
Now I’m thinkin’ of the days we was young and only stressin’ came from games
Now we watchin’ where we drive, it’s lessons in these lanes
Don’t swerve, my nigga
And if you do I hope it’s just a curb, my nigga
The tears fly south like a bird in the winter
I said the tears fly south like a bird in the winter
I refuse like Rosa on the first of December
We was young fuckin’ up
Still hurts I remember
Feel blessed still cursed, I’m a sinner
Don’t ask about my heart bitch it’s broken
Stomach turn a little different when you know your family deserves bigger
But this all that you can give ‘em
And it breaks me inside I can’t fix it
Queens, New York for the weekend, y’all ain’t livin’
See a little more when you grow and remain children
Queens, New York for the weekend, y’all ain’t livin’
See a little more when you grow and remain children

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
